Summer Wedding Tips from Ocoee Lakeshore Center

Planning a summer wedding in Florida can be an absolute dream – it’s a vacation destination filled with sunshine and beauty. But let’s face it, the Florida heat can also be a bit of a beast. Here at Ocoee Lakeshore Center, we’ve hosted countless summer weddings, and we’ve picked up a few tricks to keep your guests cool and comfortable while you tie the knot.

Late Afternoon/Evening Ceremony

First things first, consider having your ceremony outdoors in our beautiful wedding garden. An evening ceremony, closer to 6pm, can also be a great way to dodge the peak heat of the day. And of course, hydration is key! Set up a lemonade or water station. Another “cool” idea would be custom water bottles featuring your photo – it’s a detail your guests will appreciate, and those bottles will be a cute reminder of your special day.

Wedding Fans

We love the idea our bride had from a recent wedding – personalized fans featuring their photo and the date/city! These not only add a cute touch but also serve a practical purpose. Speaking of practicality, program fans are another great way to go. These two-sided fans combine the ceremony information and wedding party introductions with a built-in way for guests to cool down. Plus, it’s a keepsake they’ll use long after the ceremony is over!

Sweet Treats to Keep Cool

But what about sweet treats? Who doesn’t love ice cream on a hot day? Catering a gelato, ice cream, or snow cone truck adds a touch of fun and keeps your guests cool and happy. Local businesses offer truck rentals, and these add a touch of nostalgia to your wedding.

Tents & Umbrella Rentals

Now, Florida is known for its afternoon showers, so it’s always wise to have a plan B. Luckily, there are tons of rental companies offering beautiful tents that allow you to maintain that outdoor feel while staying covered from the elements. Don’t worry, we can give you a list of our preferred vendors. Oh, and umbrellas! They’re not just functional for shade, but they can also add a touch of elegance to your décor (talk about some fun photo ops)!

Dress Code: Cool Summer Attire

When it comes to attire, let your guests know it’s a cool summer affair. Flowy dresses and sundresses are perfect for the occasion. For a fun twist, suggest a color scheme that’s bright, colorful, and tropical. We love a themed summer wedding that creates a cheerful and happy vibe.
